| CBSS - Newsletter No 4 - June/July 1997 Newsletter No 4 - June/July 1997 BALTINFO News from the Region No 4 - June/July - 1997 II Baltic Sea Games in Lithuania June 25-July 6 Communications The history of the Baltic Sea Games started in 1988. Officially it was proposed by the representatives of Estonia who had invited the diplomatic representatives of the Baltic Sea countries to the UNESCO conference in Moscow. The I Baltic Sea Games took place in Estonia in 1993. The games included athletics, basketball, canoeing, cycling, fencing, wrestling, handball, gymnastics, judo, orienteering, shooting, sport dance, swimming and volleyball.
The games take place every fourth year. Sweden is the candidate for III Baltic Sea Games in 2001.
